Do You Need a Drop Hitch Adapter?
When adding a Swing-Away to your Harmar lift, your vehicle's hitch height determines whether a drop hitch adapter is required.
No Drop Hitch Needed
- Hitch height between 6" and 16" when adding a Swing-Away.
Drop Hitch Required
- Hitch height between 17" and 21" when using a Swing-Away.
- Hitch height between 19" and 23" even without a Swing-Away, depending on lift setup.
For the best fit, simply measure from the ground to the top of your receiver hitch before ordering.

FAQ
The Harmar Swing Away Vehicle Lift for Scooters and Power Wheelchairs is compatible with SUVs, mini and full-size vans, and hatchback vehicles. As long as your vehicle has a standard hitch receiver, this lift should work, though you may need a drop hitch adapter depending on your hitch height from the ground.
If your hitch height from the ground is between 6" and 16" and you are adding the Swing Away feature, you will not need a drop hitch adapter. However, if your hitch height is between 17" and 21" with a Swing Away, or between 19" and 23" without one, a drop hitch adapter will be required for proper fitment.
The Swing Away option allows the outside lift to pivot away from your vehicle, giving you clear, unobstructed access to your trunk, lift gate, or tailgate without needing to remove the lift entirely. It uses a secure, easy-to-use latch assembly to lock the lift back into place when you're ready to load or transport your scooter or power wheelchair.
Most products ship fully assembled or require minimal assembly. Some larger items (lift chairs, hospital beds) are delivered ready to use with White Glove delivery. Contact us if you have questions about a specific product.
Return eligibility depends on the product.
