Product Details
A hospital bed trapeze system gives people with limited mobility a secure overhead handhold so they can change position in bed with less strain and less help. The frame mounts to a compatible hospital or home-care bed, or stands free on a floor base that slides under the bed. A heavy-duty chain or straps suspends a triangle trapeze bar over the mattress, where the user can reach it from lying or sitting.
Grip the bar, unload part of the body weight through the arms and shoulders, and slide the hips, boost up in bed, or move toward the edge for a transfer to a wheelchair or bedside commode. Caregivers spend less time boosting from underneath, which reduces back and should strain. Frequent self-repositioning also helps relieve pressure points and lower the risk of skin breakdown for people who spend long periods in bed.
Typical users include seniors aging in place, people recovering from surgery or injury, and patients with weakness, arthritis, or reduced lower-body strength who still have enough upper-body control to pull. Models range from standard units rated around 2w50 lb to bariatric free-standing systems rated 450 lb and higher. Useful features include tool-free assembly, height-adjustable chain or strap, a padded or non-slip triangle grip, chrome or power-coated steel tubing, wall and bed bumpers, and optional locking casters on free-standing bases.
Choose a bed-mounted trapeze when floor space is tight and the bed frame is compatible. Choose a free-standing overhead trapeze when the bed cannot accept a clamp, or when the unit needs to move between rooms. Always match the weight capacity to the user, confirm bed compatibility, and follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. a trapeze is a repositioning and transfer aid, not a patient lift.
