Overview

The Harmar UP Stairlift is a modern, modular stair lift designed to fit both straight and curved staircases while offering advanced technology, premium comfort, and a space-saving design.

Unlike traditional curved stair lifts that may require a completely custom-manufactured rail, the UP Stairlift uses a modular aluminum rail system made from reusable straight sections and bends. This allows the system to be configured for many different staircase layouts while offering faster installation and the ability to reconfigure the rail if your needs change.

With a 275 lb weight capacity, powered swivel seat, powered folding footrest, remote controls, smartphone connectivity, and remote diagnostics, the UP Stairlift combines accessibility with modern technology.

Modular Rail System

One of the biggest advantages of the UP Stairlift is its unique modular rail.

The system uses extruded recycled aluminum rail sections and bends that can be configured to follow the shape of many different staircases.

This allows the UP Stairlift to work with everything from a basic straight staircase to more complicated stairways with curves, turns, and landings. The modular design can also significantly reduce the amount of time required between measuring and installation compared with a traditionally manufactured custom curved rail.

Straight or Curved Staircases

The UP isn't limited to curved stairs.

For a straight staircase, the system can use a straight rail configuration while still providing premium features such as the powered swivel seat, powered folding footrest, and intercom.

For staircases with bends, curves, sweeps, or intermediate landings, modular curved rail sections can be configured around the staircase.

This makes the UP Stairlift one of the more versatile options for homes with unusual staircase configurations.

Powered Swivel Seat

Getting on and off a stair lift can sometimes be as challenging as riding it.

The UP Stairlift features a powered swivel seat that automatically turns away from the staircase and toward the landing. The seat can swivel 60° at both the top and bottom landings, helping create a more comfortable position for entering and exiting the chair.

This feature is included rather than requiring the user to manually rotate the seat.

Powered Folding Footrest

The UP also eliminates the need to bend over to manually raise or lower the footrest.

When you raise or lower the armrests, the footrest automatically folds or unfolds, making everyday operation easier for users who have difficulty bending or reaching toward the floor.

Smartphone App & Remote Diagnostics

Technology is another area where the UP Stairlift stands apart.

Using the compatible smartphone or tablet app, the stair lift can be called or sent between floors. The app can also be used to lock the lift when children are in the home and share diagnostic information with the local dealer.

With a Wi-Fi connection, remote diagnostics may allow a dealer to identify or potentially resolve certain issues without immediately requiring an in-home service visit.

Multiple Ways to Control Your Stair Lift

The UP provides several convenient control options.

The primary control is a simple joystick located on the armrest. Two remote controls are also included, allowing the lift to be called or sent to another landing without someone riding in the chair.

Compatible Android devices can also use the UP Stairlift app to call or send the chair.

Space-Saving Landing Options

Every staircase and landing is different, so the UP Stairlift offers several rail-ending and parking configurations.

Straight Finish — A simple rail ending where the stair lift parks at the end of the staircase.

Horizontal Finish — Allows the chair to park farther away from the staircase, helping create additional usable stair space.

Drop Nose — Designed to minimize how far the rail extends into the lower landing. With this configuration, the seat can be positioned only approximately 6-5/16" from the riser when parked.

For curved configurations, additional options include 90° and 180° parking curves, allowing the chair to park around a corner or even behind the staircase.

Optional Powered Hinge Rail

If the bottom of your staircase is near a doorway or walkway, an extended rail could create an obstruction.

The optional powered hinge rail allows the lower portion of the rail to move out of the way when the stair lift isn't being used, helping keep the walkway clear.

Safety Features

The Harmar UP Stairlift includes several built-in safety features:

  • Retractable seat belt with sensor
  • Constant-pressure controls
  • Overspeed governor brake
  • Chassis obstruction sensors
  • Footrest obstruction sensors
  • Powered swivel seat
  • Remote diagnostics

These features are designed to provide additional protection while traveling and getting on or off the stair lift.

A Reusable Stair Lift System

Another unique advantage of the UP Stairlift is that the rail isn't necessarily limited to one staircase forever.

Because the system is modular, the rail sections can be removed, reconfigured into a different shape, combined with additional sections, and reused.

If you move to another home or eventually no longer need the stair lift, both the chair and rail components may be reusable instead of requiring an entirely new custom rail.

Modern Design

The UP Stairlift was also designed to look less like traditional medical equipment.

It features diamond-stitched upholstery, plush seating, a slim profile, and a modern appearance designed to blend more naturally into the home.

The aluminum rail is durable and recyclable, and Harmar states that the modular rail components are designed to be reused rather than discarded.

Why Choose the Harmar UP Stairlift?

The Harmar UP Stairlift is an excellent choice for customers looking for more than a traditional stair lift.

Its combination of a modular straight or curved rail, powered swivel seat, automatic folding footrest, smartphone controls, remote diagnostics, modern styling, and reusable rail system makes it one of Harmar's most technologically advanced stair lift options.

The modular rail system can also be particularly attractive for curved staircases because it can reduce the wait associated with manufacturing a completely custom curved rail.

Professional Measurement & Installation

The proper UP Stairlift configuration depends on your staircase.

Before ordering, factors such as the staircase angle, overall length, curves, landings, available space, parking location, user needs, and potential doorway obstructions should be evaluated.

Our mobility experts can help determine whether your staircase requires a straight, curved, drop-nose, overrun, parking-curve, or powered-hinge rail configuration.
