WHILL

Carbon-light. WHILL-capable.

A lightweight folding carbon electric wheelchair, built to make everyday travel easier without giving up the WHILL driving experience.

Not yet available in the United States. The Model C Lite is WHILL's folding carbon chair, currently sold in Europe and the UK. We have not confirmed US availability, pricing or warranty with WHILL yet, so we are not taking orders for it. Tell us you're interested and we'll come back to you as soon as we know — and we'll show you the WHILL models we can supply today.

Lightweight portability

Carbon frame. One hand. Two seconds.

WHILL's first molded carbon technology replaces the conventional pipe frame, made with 100% recycled carbon fiber. The folding mechanism works with one hand, and the chair stands upright on its own once folded — so it stores against a wall rather than lying across a boot floor.

2s

One-handed fold

A newly developed mechanism folds the chair in about two seconds, then it stands upright for storage or wheeling.

47.6 lb

What you actually lift

39.2 lb for the frame alone, and 47.6 lb with the battery and cushions fitted — the figure that matters at the car.

19.7" L × 23.1" W × 29.7" H

Folded footprint

Small enough to plan around. An optional Loading Arm attaches to the chair to give extra leverage when you lift it.

WHILL driving technology

The part that makes it a WHILL

The C Lite keeps the omni wheels, the dual-motor drive and the suspension that define how a WHILL handles — the weight came out of the frame, not out of the driving experience.

Patented omni wheels

Ten compact rollers per wheel let the chair move sideways and turn inside a 31.9-inch radius. Soft grooved rubber rollers flex to absorb shocks.

Nidec dual-motor system

The motors rotate in opposite directions for precise on-the-spot turns, and sensors adjust each rear wheel independently to hold a line across cambered ground.

Suspension that carries over

Carbon blade suspension with four-wheel independent travel. Clears obstacles up to 2 inches with 3.0 inches of ground clearance, on inclines up to 10.0°.

Range

Standard battery, or the long-range option

These are two different batteries. The chair ships with the standard pack; the long-range pack is a separate option, and its figure is not the range of the product as delivered.

Comfort and fit

Adjustable where it counts

Medical-grade cushion

WHILL specifies the premium material used in first-class seating on Japan's bullet trains.

Adjusts to you

Back support angle and height, armrest height, and foot support height and length all adjust. WHILL states the largest foot support in the folding category, with a flip-up design.

High Back Support

An optional back with twice the height of the standard back support, wider and more deeply contoured. US availability to be confirmed.

WHILL app

Bluetooth control from your phone

Drive the chair remotely over Bluetooth — useful for loading it into a vehicle without walking it in. Choose one of three drive modes, check device stats, and lock or unlock the chair.

Questions

What people ask about the C Lite

Can I buy the Model C Lite from AME right now?
Not yet. WHILL currently sells the Model C Lite in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Spain, and it does not appear in WHILL's US range. We have not confirmed US availability, price or warranty with WHILL, so we are not taking orders. Use Request Availability and we will contact you as soon as that changes.
How much does it weigh, and can I lift it?
WHILL's specification table lists 17.8 kg (39.2 lb) for the chair itself and 21.6 kg (47.6 lb) with the battery and cushions fitted. The 21.6 kg figure is the one that matters when you lift it into a car — the widely quoted '17 kg' is the bare frame. WHILL offers an optional Loading Arm that attaches to the chair to give extra leverage.
How does it fold?
A newly developed mechanism folds it with one hand in about two seconds, and once folded it stands upright on its own for storage or wheeling. Folded, it measures about 19.7 in long, 23.1 in wide and 29.7 in high.
How far will it go on a charge?
WHILL rates the standard battery at 14.5 miles and the optional long-range battery at 23.9 miles. The battery is lithium-ion, 25.6 V / 10.6 Ah (about 271 Wh), and charges in up to 4.5 hours. Real-world range varies with terrain, rider weight, temperature and driving style.
How does it handle kerbs, slopes and weather?
It clears obstacles up to 2 inches, has 3 inches of ground clearance and is rated for inclines up to 10°. On cambered ground, sensors adjust each rear wheel's rotation independently to keep it tracking straight. The chair is IPX5 weather tested.
What is the weight capacity?
WHILL rates the Model C Lite for riders up to 136 kg (300 lb).
What accessories does WHILL make for it?
WHILL's brochure lists a Basket, a Long-Range USB Type-C Battery, a High Back Support and a Loading Arm. Which of these are sold in the US, and at what price, is part of what we still need to confirm with WHILL.
Can I take it on a plane?
We are not making an air-travel claim for this chair. WHILL's European brochure marks it air-travel approved, but that is a European document about a European configuration, and airlines set their own rules for lithium batteries and mobility devices. If you need a chair for flying, call us and we'll go through the models we supply today and what each airline requires.
