As the global population ages, the need for effective mobility solutions becomes increasingly critical. Among these solutions, mobility scooters have emerged as a vital lifeline for seniors and disabled adults. These devices not only enhance independence but also significantly improve quality of life. Today we are going to talk about Pride Mobility’s two new entries into the travel-light scooter market, the all new GoGo Carbon and the GoGo Super Portable fiber carbon scooters.

Pride GoGo Carbon

Pride Super Portable

The Pride GoGo Carbon folds down and the Pride Super Portable folds in half. Both are super useful, fun, air and cruise line ready, sleek and light..

Enhancing Quality of Life
Accessibility plays a crucial role in overall well-being. Mobility scooters enable users to engage more fully with their communities and maintain social connections that are essential for emotional health. Being able to participate in activities outside the home contributes positively to mental health by combating feelings of isolation and depression often experienced by those with limited mobility. These reasons summarize the exact reasons why we wanted to discuss these two new superstars of the travel mobility market. The GoGo Carbon is a beautiful, lightweight (35 lbs.) full carbon frame along with the rims and tiller as well. The 4 lb., 24V, 12Ah lithium battery can deliver up to 10 miles on a single charge. Worthy to note that the frame of the Pride GoGo Carbon has a lifetime limited warranty - something you don’t see every day. Folding is quick and easy.

The Pride Super Portable might have an edge on the Carbon depending on your preferences. The Super Portable folds down flat to 12”, same as the Golden Technologies GB120 CarryOn scooter. The seat is roughly 20% larger than that of the GoGo Carbon and, unlike the GoGo Carbon, arms can be ordered optionally. One of the really cool enhancements on the Super Portable is a new recharge setup that utilizes magnets instead of old style plug-ins. This makes recharging so easy; simply get the power side magnet near the recharge port magnet and you have a 360° connection that can twist any way. You will start seeing this much more in the future. It takes the pain out of trying to match up the pins with the holes in the charger attachment. The Pride Super Portable weighs in at 41 lbs. and the 11.7 Ah lithium-ion battery weights around 8 lbs. The scooter gets up to 10 miles on a full charge. This compares to 14 miles on the Golden GB120 CarryOn. Though it doesn’t have a lifetime warranty on the frame it does have a 2-year warranty on both the electronics, drive motors and the battery. That is strong!

Safety Features
Modern mobility scooters come equipped with various safety features designed specifically for users who may have balance difficulties or other health concerns. Many models include anti-tip technology, lights for visibility during low-light conditions, ergonomic seats for comfort, and advanced braking systems that ensure secure stopping capabilities. Such features make it easier for seniors and disabled adults to travel confidently within both urban settings and rural areas. For the GoGo Carbon, Pride has put a twist on the concept of anti-tip wheels with a new side-by-side wheel formation that allows the unit to free stand when folded. Keeping the tiller extended out allows you to easily tow the lightweight unit behind you to the car, train, or airplane. The headlight on the GoGo Carbon is a new look and works well - extending out 8’ in darkness. When folding, the GoGo Super Portable seat locks into place when lowered into the deck. Both the tiller telescoping mechanism and the tiller knuckle have safety clasps as no slip safety measures. Our only concern is that the seat release button, tiller telescoping adjustment lever, and the tiller knuckle adjustment lever are all plastic. We will have to wait and see how those perform over time. The Super Portable also has a nifty kickstand attachment but no anti-tip wheels. Disappointing for sure; just means you have to monitor and manage your hills a little more closely.

Cost-Effectiveness Compared to Alternatives
While other forms of transportation exist—such as public transit options tailored for people with disabilities—these can often involve waiting times or require transfers that add stress to travel experiences. In contrast, owning a mobility scooter can prove more cost-effective over time since it allows individuals greater freedom without ongoing transportation costs such as taxi fares or ride-shares. Communities are now embracing all-in-one neighborhoods. Your grocery and drug stores, gas and convenience outlets, restaurants, home improvement, banks, etc. are all within walking distance. For the individual using mobility devices this is an ideal environment. Both the GoGo Carbon and the Super Portable, with their 10 mile range, are totally adequate to navigate and reach all these locations.

Flexibility Across Environments
Mobility scooters are designed more for outdoor use but can be used inside some homes—their compact design allows maneuvering through like hallways or doorways while still providing ample support outdoors on sidewalks during errands! Users no longer feel confined indoors; they possess an essential tool capable of transforming even mundane tasks into manageable outings. Pride Mobility provides a major opportunity for older and restricted individuals to embrace freedom and independence once again. Talk about improving mental health!! Both of these units are designed for outdoor use on sidewalks, asphalt, malls, and maybe some crush and run. They will not perform through gravel, pinestraw, sand or other soft surfaces. We did run them both through the paces though and came up with some interesting contrasts. The GoGo Carbon has a 4” deck and at the motor 1.5” of clearance; pretty low to the ground. This unit, despite looking so nimble, is extremely stable. Please do not do this at home but we drove up steep hills, made high speed fast turns, and drove along the side of sloping hills. Never did the unit feel unstable or as if wheels were getting ready to come off the ground. The unit hugged the surface very well. Having said that, it did not perform well going through some low-cut rye grass. The GoGo Super Portable is a little taller, making for a slightly higher center of gravity. The front part of the deck is 5” and the rear part 6”. It has 1.85” clearance from the ground to the motor, the lowest point of the scooter. The Super Portable did not feel as stable, but remember we were asking it to do unusual things. You would probably never notice a difference. It did plow through the same section of grass though that we ran the GoGo Carbon through, indicating a stronger motor.

Encouraging Physical Activity
Though it may seem counterintuitive at first glance given its nature as an assisting device—a study published in The Journal Of Aging Research indicated increased engagement among scooter users regarding physical activity levels when compared against sedentary counterparts (like using wheelchairs). By facilitating access outdoors where walking paths await exploration beyond walls—and encouraging spontaneous adventures—a sense-of-movement fosters healthier lifestyles despite certain limits imposed by age/health conditions! At Affordable Medical Equipment and Mobility Solutions, this is exactly our aim. We want to improve lives - through encouragement, equipment, supplies, and the latest assistive technology.
